You do not need to learn special commands or syntax. Just type your question in plain language, and Penny interprets it. If your question is ambiguous, Penny will ask for clarification rather than guessing.

Penny is included in the free plan. Every Oweize user has access to the AI assistant at no additional cost. There are no premium tiers or paywalls gating the feature.

This is an intentional decision. We believe that understanding your own financial data should not cost extra. Whether you are splitting a dinner bill with two friends or managing a household budget with five roommates, Penny is available to help.

Privacy and Data

Penny only accesses the financial data within your Oweize account. It does not access external accounts, browse the internet, or share your data with third parties. Your questions and Penny's responses stay within the app.

If you have connected a bank account through Plaid, Penny can reference those transactions when answering your questions. But the bank connection itself is handled securely through Plaid, and Oweize never stores your bank credentials.

When Penny Is Most Useful

Penny shines in situations where you need quick answers without digging through screens:

End of trip reconciliation. After a group trip, you might have dozens of expenses across multiple categories. Instead of scrolling through each one, ask Penny for a summary: "How much did each person spend on the trip?"

Monthly budget check-ins. If you are tracking spending by category, ask Penny how you are doing: "How much have I spent on dining this month?" Getting a quick number helps you adjust before the month ends.

Settling disputes. When there is a disagreement about who paid for something, Penny can look it up: "Who paid for the hotel on October 5th?" The answer is immediate and based on the recorded data.
